Applying for an MBA GMAT/GRE Waiver

If you’re ready to join William & Mary’s Online MBA program, you may be able to do so without that conventional hassle of business school applications: the GMAT or GRE. Because it is our mission at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business to admit all business-minded individuals who are passionate and driven, whether or not they have a personal learning style conducive to standardized testing, we invite professionally qualified applicants to apply instead for an Online MBA GMAT/GRE waiver.

With several waiver options available, this pathway is designed to accommodate professionals with varying business backgrounds. Please note that all waiver options require the following:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Demonstrated preparedness for success in the heavily quantitative coursework of an MBA program

To ensure quantitative preparedness, waiver applicants must satisfy one of the following options:

A graduate degree in a quantitative field

An undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) over the last four courses taken in the areas of math, statistics, economics, finance or accounting. If quantitative coursework is present on transcripts but does not meet the 3.0 GPA requirement, the William & Mary GMAT Waiver Math Assessment may be offered as supplemental evidence of quantitative competency

    Complete the Assessment

Prospective students who meet career requirements but do not have enough (or any) quantitative coursework to have their quantitative competencies assessed (through OPTION B) must complete the online MBA Math preparatory course at with scores of at least 90% on each of the following assessment areas: economics, finance, accounting, statistics and spreadsheets is an outside company and courses cost $149, payable by the prospective student.

Please note: GMAT/GRE waivers are not guaranteed and are considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional assessment and demonstration of quantitative competencies may be required as part of the waiver evaluation process.
