Scott Gibson is the K. Dane Brooksher Professor of Finance, the Economics & Finance area head, and the Online MS in Finance faculty program director. He previously held academic appointments at Cornell University and the University of Minnesota. Prior to his academic career, he worked as an analyst with Fidelity Investments and as a credit team leader serving a Fortune 500 clientele with HSBC Bank.

His research interests include institutional investor trading strategies and their effects on stock prices, the optimal design of mutual fund exchange rules, agency problems in the mutual fund industry, and the use of derivative securities in lowering corporate financing costs. His research has been featured in the financial press, including The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, New York Times, Barons, Business Week and Bloomberg.

Scott’s teaching interests include corporate finance and valuation. He has been awarded various outstanding teaching awards on numerous occasions at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels over his teaching career and has also been named an outstanding faculty member in Businessweek's Guide to the Best Business Schools.
