Residency Weekend

We Can’t Wait to See You in Williamsburg

There’s something about stepping onto this campus that makes everything feel real. William & Mary’s historic campus in Williamsburg, Virginia is one of the most beautiful in the nation—and it’s yours to explore.

Residency Weekend is a cornerstone of the online experience. Required for MBA and MSM students, and open to all online students, Residency Weekend is your chance to:

  • Meet your cohort and faculty face-to-face
  • Attend immersive workshops and leadership sessions
  • Explore the historic campus and the city of Williamsburg
  • Build relationships that last well beyond graduation

Your Residency Weekend dates will be shared by your Student Success Coordinator.

Take a Virtual Tour

Can’t wait to see campus? We don’t blame you. Take a virtual tour of William & Mary’s campus and start getting excited for the day you walk through the Wren Building arch.

While You’re in Williamsburg

Williamsburg has a lot more to offer than beautiful colonial architecture (though there’s plenty of that, too). From Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens to local restaurants and waterfront parks, plan to make a weekend of it.

William & Mary Traditions & History

330 Years of Tradition—and Now You’re Part of It

William & Mary isn’t just a university. It’s the second-oldest institution of higher education in the United States, founded in 1693. George Washington received his surveyor’s license here. Thomas Jefferson walked these halls. And now, so will you.

Becoming a member of the Tribe means joining a tradition that stretches across centuries, and a community that takes that legacy seriously.

A few of our favorite traditions:

Crim-Dell bridge

The Crim Dell Bridge

Legend has it that if you cross Crim Dell Bridge with someone and don’t kiss them, you’ll never graduate. We’ll leave that one up to you, but the bridge is unmistakably beautiful, and worth a visit when you’re on campus for Residency.
Yule Log at William and Mary

The Yule Log Ceremony

Each winter, students gather for the Yule Log Ceremony, a beloved tradition rooted in W&M history. Online students who join us for events in Williamsburg are always welcome to participate.
Students in caps and gowns at Commencement

Commencement

Graduating students walk across campus together to the ceremony. Picture yourself crossing that stage, surrounded by centuries of history and the cheers of your Tribe. That day is coming.
