James "Jim" Olver is an associate professor at William & Mary’s Raymond A. Mason School of Business. He has taught at Corvinus University in Budapest and Management Centre Innsbruck, and has held visiting professor positions at the Colgate Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia and Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan. His research interests include marketing management, product management, consumer behavior, marketing strategy, and healthcare marketing.

Jim has taught courses in creative problem solving, marketing management, product management, marketing strategy, market research, consumer behavior, and marketing analytics in the MBA, Executive MBA, and undergraduate programs at William & Mary. He served as director of undergraduate studies for the School of Business Administration from 1994 to 1997 and as assistant dean for the MBA program from 2005 to 2011.

His research has been published in such journals as the Harvard Business Review, the Journal of Consumer Marketing, Sloan Management Review, and Marketing Science. He engages in consulting, executive education and case writing in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, in industries ranging from health care to information technology.
