William “Bill” Geary joined the William & Mary faculty in 1978 and is currently an associate professor emeritus teaching managerial and financial accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois.

In May 2015, he received the Thomas A. Graves award from William & Mary to recognize sustained teaching excellence. Bill teaches in the MBA and Executive MBA programs, twice served as the leader of the undergraduate program and served as the coordinator of the accounting program. He has received numerous awards for teaching excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. His research interests are in management accounting and accounting education.

Bill served as a manager in a public accounting practice and as a consultant for the design and implementation of management accounting systems. He has extensive and diverse experience in executive education with a special emphasis on designing and delivering executive education programs for hospital systems and physicians. His considerable involvement with healthcare has provided him with national exposure to the applications of management accounting in the healthcare industry.
